Course Overview

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner and PMP are the two most recognised project management certifications globally. PRINCE2 is mandatory for UK public sector projects. PMP is required by many US and global enterprises. Both are exam-based. The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam is a 2.5-hour open-book test of 70 scenario questions. PMP is a 230-question adaptive exam across three domains. Neither measures whether a project manager can actually run a project. XPROJ is built for project managers who want to demonstrate they can lead projects, not just answer questions about them.

Across five instructor-led days, XPROJ covers the complete practitioner-level project management body of knowledge: PRINCE2 7th Edition (September 2023) across all five integrated elements including the new People dimension, Sustainability integration, and Digital and data management additions; PMI PMBOK 7th Edition twelve principles and eight performance domains; Agile and hybrid delivery approaches; benefits realisation management; stakeholder management; risk management; and UK IPA project delivery standards. Every session connects methodology to real project scenarios.

On Day 5, participants are presented with a complex project scenario and must develop a project initiation package, risk register, stakeholder engagement plan, and governance framework applying methodology from across the programme. A senior project management practitioner assesses quality of planning, risk thinking, and governance design. XPROJ certificate and Practitioner Assessment Report issued together.

Hands-on project initiation document drafting, risk register development using PRINCE2 risk methodology, stakeholder mapping and engagement plan design, benefits realisation framework construction, Agile sprint planning within PRINCE2 governance, and a comprehensive project scenario on Day 5.

Participants must produce a recovery plan using PRINCE2 7 governance structures, a risk register with mitigation actions, a revised stakeholder engagement plan, and a board-level exception report applying PRINCE2 7 management by exception principles.
